Check Engine Light Repair

A malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), or Check Engine Light, is a tell-tale that a computerized engine-management system uses to indicate a malfunction. Found on the instrument panel of most automobiles, it usually bears the legend Check Engine, Service Engine soon, Maintenance Required, or a pictogram of an Engine—and when illuminated, it is typically an Amber or Red color.

The light generally has two stages:

Steady (indicating a minor fault) and flashing (indicating a severe fault). When the MIL is lit, the engine control unit stores a fault code related to the malfunction, which can be retrieved—although in many models this requires the use of a scan tool. This warning light can indicate almost anything from a loose gas cap to a serious knock in the engine.

Oil, Fluids, Coolant Leaks

Red

Red fluid leaking from your car is generally an indication that your transmission or power steering system is leaking. This could be due to a faulty transmission seal or a hole in the return line that feeds the fluid between systems.

Orange

Orange fluid leaking from your vehicle can be one of several things. Rust in your radiator can cause leaking antifreeze or condensation to appear orange. Transmission fluid can appear orange depending on its age.

Yellow

If your vehicle is leaking yellow fluid, radiator coolant is generally the culprit. The issue might be stemming from a loose hose clamp or a damaged o-ring. Your vehicle's manufacturer provides specifications of what coolant you should use. If you don't use the proper coolant, leaks are more likely to occur.

Green

Green fluid leaking from your car is most likely an antifreeze leak. Antifreeze generally leaks from your vehicles water pump, hoses or radiator when fittings, hoses, clamps or other components have worn out or are not properly attached. If you don't use the right antifreeze, leaks are more likely to occur. Check your owner's manual for the right antifreeze for you.

Blue

That blue fluid leaking from your vehicle is probably windshield wiper fluid. Over time and through usage, the fluid reservoir and tubing that carries the windshield wiper fluid through your wiper blades can degrade. This degradation can result in leaks

Clear

If your vehicle is leaking a clear fluid you are probably in great shape! Usually that clear fluid is just condensation from your air conditioning system.

Dark Brown

Dark brown fluid leaking from your vehicle could be coming from several different area within your vehicle. As motor oil ages, it becomes dark brown and eventually, thick and black. Brake fluid has a darker brown appearance.

Light Brown

Light brown fluid leaking from your vehicle is generally either newer motor oil or gear lubricant. Gear lubricant tends to have a bad smell associated with it. Motor oil really only produces an odor if it is burning.

Pink

Pink fluid leaking from your car is likely either power steering fluid or transmission fluid. These leakages are generally caused by a worn seal or a hole in the return line.

A/C & Heater Repair

A.C Diagnostics

  • Visual inspection of A/C components

  • Performance tests including system "state of charge" test & system control test

  • Leak test using approved electronic leak detector

If a slow leak cannot be detected, a dye detection service may need to be performed for confirmation and asked to return in 3-4 day's.

                  A/C Retrofit

Our A/C Retrofit service may be needed for vehicles made before 1993, which require costly refrigerant for air conditioning. This service includes:

  • Visual inspection of A/C components

  • System conversion to modern refrigerant

  • If conversion cannot be performed, installation of new compressor or other parts may be necessary.

Your car heater may need service if...

  • There’s an unpleasant or foreign smell coming from the heater vents

  • The windshield and/or windows are fogging up

  • You can see antifreeze leaking in your car’s interior (check the passenger side floor!)

  • Your car suddenly needs a ton of coolant

Vehicle Suspension

Pulling to One Side While Driving

  • Uneven tire pressure

  • Uneven tire wear

  • Poor alignment

  • Bad tie rods or steering rack

  • Sticking brake caliper

Feeling Every Bump in the Road

A rough ride is a clear indicator your shocks or struts could be worn and in need of replacement. When every bump on the road makes your car bounce.

One Corner of the Car is Sitting Low

When your car is on level ground, but one corner sits lower than the others, you’ve likely got a damaged spring. You may notice a clunking noise when going over bumps, and cornering could be compromised, because a damaged spring can’t support the weight.

Difficult Steering

  • Low power steering fluid

  • Worn or loose power steering belt

  • Faulty power steering pump

  • Leaking power steering rack

  • Worn control arm bushings
